Turning Facebook’s ‘Memories’ feature into a potentially life-saving tool against skin cancer.
Almost nobody remembers what their skin marks looked like one year ago. Keeping track of a skin mark’s evolution is crucial in preventing the worst. Euromelanoma challenged us with creating a behavioral changing effect in checking our skin. We turned the well-known Facebook feature ‘Memories’ and into ‘Skin Memories’. Instead of reminding you of random picture memories, the tool reminds you of your skin marks. We developed and distributed reusable skin patches, enabling people to measure skin marks, privately or publicly post a picture of them on Facebook and let Facebook Memories automatically show them this picture again. Year after year. Celebs, influencers and the Ministery of Health supported the campaign and it was talked about on television and radio shows both nationally and internationally. At the moment, 116.000 Belgians use Skin Memories as a method to track their skin marks
